March of the non-NTI Days

So, I wanted to share a bit about what I have been doing since then. Flex Time sheets, I currently have one completed for last week and anticipate completing another one for next week. Currently, this week is being logged as snow days so I don’t know exactly if/how I can log this work time. I spent a lot of time looking at my grade book and my Google Classroom assignments, trying to find what necessary ideas I still needed to convey on students. If, this is a huge if, we don’t return to our buildings with students, I really need to know what it is they still need to learn.

It turns out that by delaying our jump to NTI days FCPS was able to build days into prep. This has been huge because it gave me time to go back and look through all my old assignments and think about what could be easily adapted and conveyed in this new digital format. You see this is my first year in a new district, new school, new population and I had radically redesigned the whats and ways I was teaching history. As a I result, to build my NTI days and plan for a longer time out I leaned heavily into the new KDE recommendations for a Social Studies 1,2,3 format for direction and guidance. What I developed is a ten day look at the basics of trade. It should work well for most of my students. I plan on posting my materials and ideas over the next week with a couple of tidbit videos, mostly a lecture discussion about the ideas of the accompanying worksheet. I guess we will see how it all goes.

Good luck to everyone out there.
