For the last year AI tools have become deeply integrated in to my classroom workflows and as a part of my blogging process. It is so intertwined at this point, I don’t know if I would ever want to go back to having these tools readily available. It has also led me to redraft some of the ideas and lessons I will use in the spring for creative writing and for designing an ELA centric version of US history.

Early Changes

For the first half of the year, I was exclusively using Midjourney to develop captivating and visually appealing graphics for my blog posts. This versatile graphic design tool not only helped me create eye-catching visuals, but it also served as a valuable logo generator for various classroom activities.

Engaging in these basic, low-key creative development activities allowed me to tap into my artistic side and explore different design concepts. I experimented with colors, shapes, and typography to effectively convey my ideas and messages through visual storytelling.

Moreover, using Midjourney as a prompt generator proved to be an excellent way for me to enhance my creativity and brainstorm fresh ideas. It provided me with a plethora of creative prompts and suggestions, igniting my imagination and helping me think outside the box.

Through this process, I developed a deeper understanding of the nuances of graphic design and gained valuable insights into prompt generation. The more I engaged with Midjourney, the more I honed my design skills and discovered new possibilities for visual expression.

ChatGPT Changed My Writing

One of the difficult aspects of working in a small school, is that everyone is busy and no one has the real time to help you proof and draft your personal writing. Most of my work is based on personal experiences and anecdotal evidence. Because of that isolation and personal ideas, having a second set of eyes on my work has been amazing. Starting in May, I was generating blog post ideas, rewriting and developing blog posts, and reading all the current books on ideas for how to use it in the classroom. “Reading Worksheets” are the biggest way I use it now. By quick drafting a 500-1000 word worksheet, I can then ask ChatGPT rewrite for tone, clarity, and resource questions.

Using ChatGPT effectively has been an incredibly rewarding journey! I’ve discovered that by organizing prompt requests and fine-tuning my approach, the quality of the generated responses has significantly improved. Gone are the days of dropping prompt requests into a solitary line and hoping for the best. Now, I have unlocked a whole new level of potential by separating out the requests and creating prompt rules tailored to specific themes.

With this refined system in place, I’m able to effortlessly navigate the intricacies of ChatGPT, unleashing its full power to meet my writing needs. By starting a fresh prompt whenever I want a clean rewrite, I set clear intentions for what I want the generated text to convey. This approach empowers me to craft captivating content right from the very beginning, fueling my creativity and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.

It’s truly remarkable how Grammarly, the popular writing assistant, seamlessly incorporates these functionalities into Google Docs. Likewise, the integration of ChatGPT4 into the premium WordPress editor on the web opens up a world of possibilities. No longer do I need to switch between platforms; instead, I can harness the remarkable capabilities of ChatGPT4 within the familiar confines of WordPress.

The convenience and flexibility this integration offers is beyond compare. It empowers writers like me to maximize their productivity and create content that truly resonates with the audience. Whether I’m fine-tuning drafts, generating fresh ideas, or seeking inspiration, ChatGPT4 has become an indispensable companion in my writing journey.

Embracing the power of AI in the writing process has elevated my work to new heights. With ChatGPT4 as my trusty sidekick, I feel like I have a superpower at my fingertips.
