I know it’s past back to school for a lot of teachers but you should always take a look at the Adobe Educators Exchange for new ideas in your classroom especially lesson plans or ways to develop other student digital art pieces based on tutorials and templates. This September Adobe Express has several new updates including the use of classroom and assignments. Check out my YouTube video to see how to set up a classroom inside of your AdobeExpress Educator account and also how to develop and create assignments inside of each classroom after you’ve made one.
My Lessons
I re-tooled my PSA assignment that was used last year and my US history class this one focuses on students creating a roughly 90 second PSA using a template where they pull one environmental policy from the United States do some research explain why they support or against it and then explain to the audience how they can get involved in either supporting the law as it’s written now or proposing changes to it. This assignment is great to show the video editing and audio recording aspects of Express. (Adobe Express Template)
I created two new assignments this semester for my Civics class. The first was a license plate template project based on the idea of a new 51st State. The design project was part of a culminating research project were students developed a opinion statement supporting/opposing the creation of a new state. (Adobe Express Template & EDU Exchange )
The second new project was based on a state technology competition. (Kentucky STLP has a Creative Digital Arts competition and one of the categories is Book Cover Design. So I wanted my student to try and develop some ideas.) After we read the book the book march by John Lewis I promoted students to use the generative AI to make a new book cover for a digital classroom edition that commemorates the summer of 1965. New Design Projects
I also spent most of September designing some of the new posters for the cultural heritage bulletin board that the school put up this year. Last year, as the social studies lead, I asked for a wall to become dedicated to the monthly heritage and cultural events and then offered to design posters and images for the bulletin board. Since the beginning of the year, I have worked on making some of those for the building.
Adobe Express
Adobe Express highlights templates and skills for educators to find inspiration for activities. Be sure to try new challenges each month inside the app. As part of the Adobe Creative Educators (ACE) group I share these activities each month and use them in my classroom.
