In the summer of 2023, I began exploring how artificial intelligence might help shape the future of American education. I went back to my AI prompts from that this past year and asked: “How can education policy at the state and national level be developed to leverage the needs of students to learn usage skills with LLMs and AI generative programs?” Through an iterative process with Claude, I developed a comprehensive vision for integrating AI literacy into our educational framework. As we approach the transition to a new Trump administration in 2024, this exploration has expanded to encompass not just artificial intelligence, but also America’s renewed ambitions in space exploration.
This collection of essays represents an interconnected vision for American technological leadership in the 21st century. The first piece explores how we can revolutionize our approach to AI education, preparing students for a world where artificial intelligence is as fundamental as reading and writing. The second essay examines how we can revitalize our space education programs to support ambitious goals of lunar and Martian colonization, particularly in light of the emerging multi-polar space race between the USA/ESA coalition, Russia, India, and China.
My hope is that these pieces can contribute to the development of a cohesive educational policy focused on developing STEM and Trade Skills across the country. By connecting AI literacy with space exploration, we create a compelling narrative that can inspire students while providing practical skills for the future. In an era where technological leadership is increasingly tied to national security and economic prosperity, investing in comprehensive technology education isn’t just good policy – it’s essential for maintaining American leadership in an increasingly competitive world.
What follows is a roadmap for educational transformation, one that recognizes both the challenges and opportunities ahead. Whether training students to harness the power of artificial intelligence or preparing them for the challenges of space colonization, the fundamental goal remains the same: ensuring America’s workforce remains at the forefront of technological innovation for generations to come.

This is part of my Generative AI in the Classroom series where I write about how AI is changing education and what I have learned from using it. Read the rest of this series here.
