Be sure to checkout the new guided activities for September and October.
September
Create a Community Quilt: Students can follow the guided Activity to create an individual Quilt square based on their own interests and ideas. I changed the activity to focus on historical personalities from the Civil Rights Movement. This followed along with my MARCH reading unit for the weeks ending in Septmeber.

Here you can see my class example for John Lewis, but students were given the opportunity to create a quilt square for any of the following as a research activity for the unit.
Another idea I have for this quilt is going through and making a list of leaders in American history and using their home state as the outline, then putting similar things into their patchwork quilt.
October
Create a Book Bento Box : Students can follow the guided activity that shows what you would place in Bento box representing a favorite book or the main character in a book. the example is Alice in Wonderland but I chose to create one for Don Quixote.
In my version of the bento box, I added a voice-over explaining why I added each item and a timed blue highlighting circle over each item. One funny thought I had for an example was possibly making one for the book The Princess Bride and creating a combination of things, including the word “Inconceivable.”

Adobe Express
Adobe Express highlights templates and skills for educators to find inspiration for activities. Be sure to try new challenges each month inside the app. As part of the Adobe Creative Educators (ACE) group I share these activities each month and use them in my classroom.
